On the Practice Track Before Racing Day

Okay, me and my dad decide it was a good time for me to finally enter a race on the 4th of July at Broome-Tioga Racetrack. They had practice the day before the race so I went. I was kind of nervous about going to the practice, I knew there would be some tough competition. Of course there was, it was my 1st time racing on that track.

Once there, I was ready to hit the track, they let the big bikes go first, then the 80's, and 50's go last. We got sent out in pairs and did about 15 minutes of riding. I was doing worse then when I first went there a few weeks back for open practice. I wasn't doing anything.

I had 2 crashes out of the whole day. The first one was just a spill in the corner were the bike was still running and I could just pick it up and take right off. The second crash I had was really bad. I was going through whoop section when the front end dropped and I went flying over the handlebars. My dad says I did a forward somersault and landed on my back, luckily I went one way and my bike went the other. I had the flaggers, medical people and my parents rushing over. All I wanted to know was how was my bike was. I was fine, which was weird because it was a bad crash, so after about 5 minutes I was back riding finishing out our 15 minute run.

That day, the track was really slick and muddy. I have a horrible rear tire and I couldn't move any where in that mud. Oh and by the way, I spent my whole paycheck from working at the B-Mets Stadium on front and rear sprocket and chain the day before but that did not help a lot. I'm still waiting to get a new clutch.

Other than that, I had a great time and I need to practice there more. I ended up not racing the next day, my hand and arm hurt from the fall and it was raining in the morning, not a good way to start my 1st race.

Finally, at last - 6/21/06

Today at the track, this kid was going to show up and try to school me - yeh right. It was also the day I was supposed to do the pavilian double, also there is a story at the end of the day.

When we first got there, I kept wanting do this big double, but I kept slowing down. So I kept watching my friend TJ who does it really good. This one time I was followling him and I said screw it, and came around the berm in third, than fourth, and I launched off it and made it. I was so happy finally all that pressure off my chest. I now only have a couple of jumps to accomplish at Practice Track MX573.

There was a kid on a KMT65 2-stroke and he was about 10 yrs old. He was from Kentucky and he has been on the road for about a month. He qualified for the Lorreta-Lynn Race, and crashed but something happened so he could make it up idk. Anyway, this kid is going pro - I don't care. This kid was keeping up with me. He was doing every jump I was doing it was crazy. I'll hear his name some day. Him and his dad were telling me that he does a 120 foot table top downhill, well of course he has to be pinned and of course he came up with 2 bikes.

Well after he left, Corbin came up. I was ready do this one jump right, that he doesn't didn't do, but cuts right in front of me so I can't do it and I almost crash. So I wait a while and we were side by side on these two doubles and it came to a small straight away into a long gradual turn and he was on the outside and so I pinned it in 3rd or 4th and my rear end hit him and I was hitting him with my elbow and I threw him off the track and I could hear him bitching. Then we stopped and I said "What was that? You cut me right off and you didn't even do the jump" he said "well that's racing". But I told him at least do the jump. That shut him right up, little bit later he went over to his dad and was talking. He came back and said "what was that move, pushing me off that track I responed to "well it was rubbing and you know what rubbing is - racing". He's like idc you knocked me off the track. I said are you going to cry over it?

Anyways my dad did really good and I think he is coming back around with his groove after his crash. TJ is improving greatly and is getting so much better. Bryan has been there everyday wishing he could ride but he's been the camera man.

At the end of the day, when we were loading up the bikes, TJ wasn't feeling good - I think it was the heat, and he puke so bad before we left. He threw up his ham and chesse sandwhich and his gatorade. He slept the whole way home. When we got home unloading his bike at his house he went to the side of his driveway and threw up alot more, poor kid, but the best part was that Bryan got on camera. It was so gross. Another great day at the track

Awesome day at track 6/4/06

So today I went to Montrose PA at Practice Track MX573. I took my friend TJ because my dad is out still from last crash (see previous post), and also my friend TJ got a BRAND NEW 2006 CRF250R O yeah, his birthday was June 1st.

It had been raining all that morning, so I thought the track would not be as good. I thought differently when I got there. It was awesome, and also there was a perfect amount of people, probably 10-15 people and plus TJ and my other friends were there Chris and Mike, so it was going to be a good day. I brought the video camera, and had my dad get us. It was muddy but I love that because you can powerslide the corners. I think that has been the best I ever rode. I was throwing the bike like nothing, but I still wasn't that fastest person there.

I thought my friend TJ, for his first time with his new bike, did really good. Chris rode good and Mike like usual rode good also. We were all racing, it got to be so fun. It kept raining on and off so I couldn't see half of the time. My gear after I was done riding was soaked so much and my bike was so muddy I must have weighed an extra 15 pounds.

It was a really fun day now that we are going to start taking TJ with his new bike. When we got home, it was time to clean (damn) but I had a great time and I hope my dad gets back riding.

5/23/06 Dads official B-DAY

So this was on my dad's 50th birthday, we went to Broome-Tioga Race Track. I thought it was the greatest thing ever becasue this was a national track I was riding on. IT WAS FRIGGIN AWESOME. So anyways, I thought I was doing good because it was my first time on that track. I met one of my friends up there his name is Corbin Foquet and he races.

At the end of the day, I decided to start recording my dad and myself, or so I thought. I first got my dad doing a start by the starting gates and he was just cruising. Then, when he was going through the rythmn section, he accidentally hit the throttle and let go with his hand and he flew backwards and I mean he went flying. The bike was on top of him after he did a whole complete backflip. I thought he was dead. I was on the other side of the track, I nerver ran so fast in my life. But luckily when I got over to him and he was ok, I also got this all on video. There was damage to the bike side panels, the exhaust bent to hell, back fender broken, the whole entire sub-frame was bent. What a great way to treat a new bike LOL.

He started to feel the pain later and still does today. Other than that I had a really good time!

No Riding this Past Weekend . . . but we tried

Well my dad foiled his "surprise" birthday party ONCE AGAIN! (well sort of). We were going to surprise him at the race track that we go to (MX573), but NOOOOOOO he didn't want to go on Saturday that we wanted him to go, because I had to be to work at 5:30 p.m. And Sunday was a wash, because of the shitty cold, rainy day that was. So we had it at home.

We didn't invite other family members, because of the uncertainty of it all, the obscure place the track is at, and we didn't think adults would want to sit around with the ambiance of noisy motorbikes and dirt! So it was mostly all the my friends who are more flexible and less particular. (He relates to them better anyway - mental age 18 years old ha!).

So me and my mom went Saturday to pick up the cake and balloons and leave them at one of my friends house. My sister made a big sign.

So Sunday we waited and we waited, he said he was going grocery shopping around 9:30ish a.m., but didn't actually leave until noonish. He wasn't going to get much (oh great!). As soon as he and I left, my mom ordered a pizza (to pick up) and called the "friends", and picked them up (in neighborhood) grabbed the cake and balloons from my friend's house, got the pizza and back home within approx. ½ hour and about 5 minutes my dad and I come home.

Well the look on his face was "what the hell?" (we got video) it was priceless. But then the disappointment set in. He said "you could have had it up to Ed's (MX573 practice track), and we said "WE KNOW WE WERE GOING TO, BUT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO GO" to which he replied "Bub didn't push hard enough to go"

O H W E L L all in all he enjoyed the thought.

Riding at MX573 Track on Wednesday, May 10, 2006

So today I wanted to get out of school early but I couldn't, so I had to wait until after school which really sucked. I asked my friend TJ to go, but he couldn't. I had asked him because I wanted him to record me because I've been getting a lot faster. He told me that Mike Bishop was coming up and I've had only met Mike once. From what I've heard he was pretty good.

Well, when I went up there he wasn't there yet but he eventually came. Yeah, he was pretty good, I was keeping up with him at some points but when it came to the huge jumps he killed me there. I can jump just fine, but there are like four jumps I won't do. He rides a YZ125 which is pretty fast compared to my CR125. Anyway, I had a good time racing my dad and the other guys, no wrecks either! I love it here and that's a beautiful thing you know, and the bikes didn't even have any problems today.

New test drive

Today was the first time at the track with my newly acquired Honda 2002 CR125. It was a lot faster than that 1997 Suziki RM125 I'll tell you that! Every jump and berm I went on was a gear lower. I tried my first jump with it and the wind suddenly blew me, and I did something totally wrong that the front went right up. The bike was vertical. I didn't crash though. Later I was back to my old self throwing it around adding some whips, no footers, and stuff like that. It took me a while to do the jumps I've done a hundred times. About half of the track was closed off for some repair in which they were redoing jumps and grading the track, but I had a fun day anyways.
